Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season and safe New Year’s eve celebration.  George and I spent New Year’s eve afternoon with my sister.  My sister and I share a love of animals.  Believe it or not, she has more pets than I do!  My favorite of hers is Shasta—a 30 something cockatoo. Shasta is such a sweet girl!

I always love the beginning of a new year! I like the anticipation of what the new year will bring.  This year I am looking forward to a long overdue kitchen remodel.  During this remodel, we are also updating our family room and George is  finally getting his dream train room for his Lionel trains from his childhood. He has been planning his train room for years! I am, of course, not looking forward to the disruption and mess.  But hopefully it will all be over in the first quarter.  I’m also a bit nervous about how our cat Murray will react.  As a lot of you know, he was pretty much feral when we adopted him.  He is still a nervous little guy and we don’t want him to regress and develop bad behaviors again.  Wish us luck!

Best Wishes in the New Year—Sandra

Congrats to Bun-Bun & Cali

I thought you would all appreciate knowing that this chubby cheeked cutie is Pending Adoption!  Beauty queen Cali was also adopted in December.  There are still several kitties waiting patiently for a new home. Visit the Seattle Animal Shelter online to see everyone who is available for adoption.

Big Thank You for Everyone
Who Donated Pet Food!

We wanted to thank everyone who brought in pet food during our pet food drive.  Right before Christmas, Steve and I  brought the dog food to the Seattle Animal Shelter and got to spend some time with the lovely Miss Nellie!  She had a hard time sitting still for a photo.

The wind was softly blowing and she was distracted by the leaves blowing around and all of the interesting things to smell and investigate.  It was hard not to laugh at her! This lucky girl was adopted pretty quickly. When we had gone in, there was already someone interested in her.  We wish her a long and happy life!

Thanks so much for your continued support!—Steve and Sandra

Meet Kane!

Kane is a super happy-go-lucky boy who loves to please his people!  He is 7 years old and house trained.  He knows several commands such as sit, stay, leave it, heel, wait and of course a pro at catching treats! His leash manners are improving and he loves long walks, hikes, runs—he’s up for any activity.

He is well behaved and would do fine with kids 10 years or older.  He also gets along well with most other dogs.

Kane qualifies for the Senior Citizen Discount program.

Why We Support the Seattle Animal Shelter

Steve and I are super excited about supporting the Seattle Animal Shelter again in 2018!  As you all know by now, I am a huge animal lover!  My home life includes 12 pet pigeons in an outdoor aviary, a ring neck dove and pionus parrot in my home office, two 3 year old cats and, thankfully, a very easy-going husband! All but one of the pigeons are rescues, the dove is a rescue and our 31 year old parrot was adopted 11 years ago, and, of course, the two cats were adopted from the Seattle Animal Shelter and PAWS. I’m a huge believer in giving animals a second chance.

The Seattle Animal Shelter is, for the most part, a no-kill shelter.  Meaning, they will not  euthanize an animal because of space or time.  They rely heavily on volunteers and donations. Please help us to help improve the lives  of these shelter animals!

We donate a portion of every transaction to the Help The Animals Fund. Donations to this fund are put to work in numerous ways to promote animal welfare. The top priority is to rehabilitate animals that are the subject of cruelty and neglect. Donations to this fund pay for veterinary care for shelter animals along with promoting educational outreach to prevent homeless, unwanted and abused animals. This fund also supports the shelter’s foster and volunteer program ensuring that each animal receives loving care while at the shelter.

In 2018 Adopt Don’t Shop!

Reminder that the Seattle Animal is a great resource for all types of pets!  They typically have a good selection of dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice and occasionally birds and reptiles.  If you are thinking of adding a new family member this year, I encourage you to check out the Seattle Animal Shelter first.

Meet Gus!

Gus is a super handsome older gentleman. He’s been in foster care since July. Like most cats, he is shy at first, but easily warms up once he feels safe.  He enjoys being groomed and playing with feather toys and anything with catnip!  He’s social but is not a lap cat.

This photo doesn’t show it, but Gus is a Manx.  To meet this handsome boy, please call the Foster Hotlline—206.684.0685
